What does the massage entail?
On the initial visit, you will be asked relevant questions to ensure you receive the best quality treatment with your personal, medical and cultural needs met. It is essetial you have had cleared 12 week scan prior to receiving treatment.

Each pregnancy massage is tailored to the needs of the indiviual, some mothers prefer a relaxing gentle approach and some require a firmer technique to releive deeper aches and pains. Our expert female massage therapist is experienced in performing both soft tissue and deep tissue massage techniques to suit all.
Most massages are performed laying on their side, this is said to be the safest and preferred method to avoid discomfort. We use grapeseed oil for our pregnancy massages as this is considered safe for most mothers.

Is pregnancy massage safe? - Yes, when carried out by a qualified therapist and adapted to each stage of pregnancy, pregnancy massage is considered safe for most women. Your comfort and well-being are always a priority and certain techniques and areas are avoided where neccessary.
When can I have a pregnancy massage? - most therapists offer pregnancy massage from the second trimester onwards (after 12 week scan).
What position will I be in during the massage? - You'll be positioned comfortably, usually sideline with plenty of pillows for support. Laying flat on your stomach or back is avoided to ensure safety and comfort.
What areas can be massaged ? - Common areas include the back, neck, shoulders, hips, arms and legs. Treatment is always adapted to how you are feeling on the day, and you are encouraged to let your therapist know what feels best for you.
Are there any areas that should be avoided? - Yes, certain pressure points and techniques are avoided, particually around the abdomen and lower legs. The massage is more gentle than deep tissue or sports massage and always pregnancy appropriate.
